Being celibate is not always easy but it certainly is interesting.  God has a sense of humor about many
things, and this I believe is one of them.  He instilled in us these delicious sexual feelings that can make
us want to climb the walls in ecstasy but then told us that we could only experience these feelings within
the confines of marriage.  Wow.  The question of being pure until marriage has been a sore subject for
millions of singles.  And, some very staunch believers still have a problem with this, relying on the fact that
God 'knows our hearts, and should know that we want to do right'.  Though God does know the content of
all of our hearts, the Word is very clear about where God is on sexual purity.  He requires, He mandates it
and expects it.  As with everything else, He will make the way for us to walk in the purity that He requires.

Being a practicing celibate myself, I wondered if I would be able to make it through this period in my life.  I
had been married for over twenty years and having sex on a regular basis was pretty much expected.  So
how in the world was I supposed to make it without it?  I was still human and very much normal and, as my
doctor put it, at the height of my sexuality...but, I chose to be celibate.  For the first time in my adult life I
wanted to do things God's way, all the way.  I wanted to know that I could trust The Word for everything that
concerned me and I didn't want to have to worry about guilt standing in the way of God's blessings.  I was
tired of saying "God knows my heart," to explain away my shortcomings.  I prayed and God showed up like
the God that He is and He took the desires away.  While I am waiting for God to send the mate that He has
for me, He made my wait easier to bear.

Now, why do I say celebrate your celibacy?  I'm glad you asked.  It is a natural high when you know that you
are living within the perfect will of God.  Nothing feels better than to know that God is finding favor with your
walk.  Now, this is not to say that you will never make mistakes.  We are not perfect, yet.  Everyday that we
wake up and say good morning, we have the propensity to sin.  But, have heart, God gives a way out for
every temptation that the enemy may throw our way.  And, some temptations give us the opportunity to grow
in God.  If we never had any problems, we wouldn't know that God could solve them, we would never know
what faith in God could do.

Think about what will happen when you finally meet that person that God has prepared just for you.  You
meet and this person is everything that you ever wanted in a mate.  You can laugh and talk and be yourself.
This person brings out the very best in you...you find that you want to be your best because of this person.
You smile whenever you have the occasion to think of this special person.  Then it happens, love blooms
and you are getting married.  Imagine this, it's your wedding night.  You waited and now you are about to
spend your first night in the arms of your spouse.  The waiting is over.  Think about it, the anticipation has
hit a fevered pitch and all of heaven is happy because you made the mark.  You waited.  You can now end
your celibacy and know that in the morning there will be no guilt, no shame, no condemnation.

Be happy about your decision to wait.  The world needs to see that celibacy is not a death sentence.  It is
something to be treasured and celebrated.  If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.  But, God will and
can give you the strength to walk this walk, not out of necessity but out of a real desire to please Him.  Not
just because you find yourself between relationships, but because you want to be that light unto a dark
world, the salt of the earth.

Be blessed,
Blessed is the man that endureth
temptation: for when he is tried, he shall
receive the crown of life, which the hath
promised to them that love him.  Let no
man say when he is tempted, I am tempted
of God: for God cannot be tempted with
evil, neither tempteth he any man:  But
every man is tempted, when he is drawn
away of his own lust, and enticed.
