Is God trying to move you?
For ye shall go out with joy,
and be led forth with peace:
the mountains and the hills
shall break forth before you
into singing, and all the trees
of the field shall clap their
hands.
 Isaiah 55:12

What’s Your Egypt?           by Bernadette Love

Has God delivered you from something or somebody or even someplace and you just can’t seem to let it go
and go on?   It’s  kind of like the children of Israel and their historic flight from Egypt, remember the story?  We
find it quite funny that God went to all the trouble of setting the captives free, delivering them with the wealth of
Egypt in their hands, to the splendor of the Red Sea.   God parted the waters with Pharaoh’s  army on their trail
and bearing down on them in hot pursuit.  They walked through the waters without a scratch and there is no
record that any died at that time.  And yet, when they stood safely on the other side, watching as their enemies
drowned in what should have been their own watery graves, they had the nerve to grumble, complain, and tell
Moses, “You should have left us in Egypt!”  Oh if they had only listened to the Word of God…
Have not I
commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:  for the Lord
thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.  Joshua 1:9

Was it fear of the unknown?  Could it be that even the harsh reality of slavery was better than the uncertainty of
trusting God?  So often we get comfortable with the familiar, even though we know that God has promised us
better.  And, like the children of Israel, we would rather tough it out instead of stretching out and believing God.
Sometimes God will turn up the fire where we are so that we can get up and advance to the next level, but fear
makes it impossible to move our feet.  I used to hear women say that a piece of man was better than  no man
so battered and abused and misused women would stay in awful relationships.  The fear of being alone had
them trapped.   But the Word tells us in
Isaiah 41:10:  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I
am thy God:  I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness.

What about that job that has ceased to excite you or the relationship that no longer fulfills you.  What about the
church that may not be meeting your needs anymore or a home that you long ago out grew.  Can it be that your
spirit has been telling you for some time that it is time to move on but your fear of the unknown keeps you
rooted and grounded right where you are?  Egypt held death, pain and anguish, but because it was familiar,
the people left physically but couldn’t get over it and let it go.  Is God, in all of His infinite wisdom and mercy
trying to move you to a better life, a better job, a better relationship, a better church, a better community….but
fear  of the unknown has you rooted?    If He has been nudging you (and you know that He has), don’t be afraid
to trust Him.  Don’t miss out on your blessing because you don’t know what’s waiting on the other side.
What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.  In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust.  I will not fear
what flesh can do unto me.  Psalm 56:3-4.
Trust Him to know exactly what you need when you need it.  Trust
Him to supply your every need according to His riches in glory.  Trust Him to take care of everything that
concerns you.  Trust Him to hold you in the palm of His hands.  Trust Him and say goodbye to your Egypt.
…Be
not afraid, only believe.  Mark 5:36
