Do you take stuff to the altar...then take it back?          by Bernadette Love
But without faith it is impossible
to please him:  for he that
cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently
seek him.

Sis. Gloria has gotten a bit of bad news today.  Actually, it was some really bad news.
She did what she always does when she has a problem, she took it to the altar.  She
closed herself up in her closet and prayed to God for help, like she always does.

In the heavens, God and Gabriel are witnessing Gloria’s activities.  They both paid
attention to her heartfelt cries that only they could see.  The Holy Spirit has joined them
and He too is moved to tears by her agony.  Gabriel, unable to stand it any longer is the
first to speak.

“Father, her tears have touched us all.  Are you ready for me to gather the troops and
assist her?”  Gabriel makes a move to leave, ready to move the heavens and earth to
help.

“No, Gabriel, not yet.”  The Lord says.

The Holy Spirit adds, “We have to wait because she is not going to leave her problem on
the altar long enough for us to help her.”

Gabriel is confused by their delay.  “But she is really hurting and she is crying so hard,
surely she understands that we will not let her suffer through this alone?”

The Lord answers and says, ”She knows it in her head, but not her heart.  You see, she
has read My Word and she believes Me until things happen such as this.  Gloria
believes that I can and will help others but she doesn’t believe it for herself.  No one
praises Me more than she does.  Gloria can recite My promises with her mouth but until
she has learned to trust Me with everything, We can’t help her.  All I can do is watch and
wait, hoping that one day she will learn to bring her problems to the altar and trust me to
leave it there.  If she continues to pick up the problems and try to handle them herself, I
can’t help her.  Holy Spirit, do what you always do.  Put your arms around her and
comfort her.  Hopefully she will gain enough trust for Me to fix this problem before it is too
late. ”

The three watch on, praying that she will get it so that They can move in and handle the
situation.  Does Gloria remind you of anyone?  Do you take your cares and needs to the
Lord and before He can do what needs to be done you have already scooped it back up,
intent on handling it yourself because you don’t have the patience to wait on the will of
God?   Imagine God’s frustration when it seems that we have to take the same test over
and over again, because we just don’t get it.  He has promised to take care of everything
that concerns us.  We just have to learn to wait.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that
promised;)
Hebrews 10:23
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:3
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.  The
eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.  Thou
openest thine hand, and satisfies the desire of every living thing.
Psalm 145:15, 16

If you have asked for anything that is inside the perfect will of God…help with your family,
your health, your job, your finances, your peace of mind, salvation for your children or
your spouse, restoration of a relationship….whatever, TAKE IT TO THE ALTAR AND
PLEASE LEAVE IT THERE!!!!  Have faith in God, trust His Word, lean and depend on
Him, lay it at the cross, and pray.  It sounds easy, doesn’t it.  Well, no it’s not.  But it is
necessary.  It is imperative.  Otherwise, you will take the same test over and over, until
you get it!

Heavenly Father,
As the man who asked Jesus to help with his unbelief, we ask the same thing.  Give us
the courage that it takes to wait on your will.  We praise your name while we wait.  We
thank you in advance while we wait.  We give you all the glory and the honor, while we
wait.  Amen
Take It To The Altar And Please Leave It!!!
